Blueberries Everyone?

Last Friday we started to pick our blueberries in the farm. Then we picked again last Saturday, and yesterday. We will pick again this coming Friday hope that we have a lot berries to sell. There are some people who the berries but hopefully this coming June we will have 100 pickers to pick the berries. Last year we lost a lot of berries because we do not have enough workers to pick so hubby found a group of 40-50 people who will come to the farm and help our workers that already there. Anyway, this is my entry to Rednesday.....

Blueberries are a heavenly fruit--not too sweet, with just the right amount of tang to keep me popping them in my mouth. If I lived near you, I'd be a regular customer!

DID SOMEONE MENTION SCARLET?

Did someone mention scarlet
Or was it red I heard?
Perhaps it was a varlet
Or a vermilion bird
That shouted out the color
That’s dearest to my heart.
(It makes me feel much duller
If red is not a part.)

In New Zealand, they let people come and pay money to pick your own blueberries. My neighbor did that and gave me a kilo.

We have wild blueberries all around our cabin. Of course, since they are wild they are the small ones and take forever to get enough just for blueberry pancakes!

There are many varieties which are grown in different climates. I live in the deep south and have 6 different types. I prefer the Maine wild ones but they will not grow down here, too hot. The reason for planting the different varieties is so they will ripen at different times
